Prayer of Blessing

LORD, we ask that You would hear our prayer and adopt our son as Your son so that from an early age Nathanael Joseph DeLagneau may know who he is in You—a redeemed sinner in Christ Jesus.

May he know that when Your Spirit resides in him, You will neither leave him nor forsake him.

May he be a godly young man bold, yet humble in his faith declaring the truth in love as a servant-leader for his generation in spite of the suffering and persecution he will endure.

May he be sensitive to the Holy Spirit prizing and acquiring wisdom beyond his years by etching Your Word onto his heart so he may not sin against You.

And when he does sin and is sinned against we pray he will make great haste to repent and forgive knowing he’s been forgiven and serve You all the more knowing that it’s by Your grace through faith he’s been saved!

May he walk freely and bravely in the joy ‘n peace Your Spirit brings using his gifts and abilities creatively to best serve You and bless others.

May he have a passion and knowledge for you, O God, that’s neither scathed nor succumbed by the deceptive and destructive philosophies of this world.

May he delight in whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable, as well as the seminal medieval virtues of justice, wisdom, temperance, courage, faith, hope, and love so he will flourish in this life and the next.

And may he be obedient to the call You have for his life in fulfilling the Great Commission and finishing the race (of faith) strong, so he may one day hear those wonderful words—“Well done, good and faithful servant!”

Life Verse

5 O Lord, you alone are my hope.
I’ve trusted you, O Lord, from childhood.
Yes, you have been with me from birth;
from my mother’s womb you have cared for me.
No wonder I am always praising you!

My life is an example to many,
because you have been my strength and protection.
That is why I can never stop praising you;
I declare your glory all day long.

…the linguistic problem hammers the last nail in the coffin of the traditional setting of “the inn” being some sort of hotel. In Greek, katáluma is translated “lodging place,” “upper room,” or “guest room.”[6] Only a few translations call it something other than “the inn,” which lends itself to misinterpretation by Westerns who think of “the inn” as a kind of hostel or motel.[7] But Matthew’s gospel makes it clear that the Maji entered a “house”: “And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.”[8] So, the traditional telling of “no room for them in the inn” should be translated “no room for them in the guest room upstairs.”

one should read the BIBLE as a mystery novel: a story of prideful irony (sin) and ironic pride (salvation) one should peruse its pages for the character development of villain and hero one should be prepared to personally invest into the proverbial love story that takes place between author and reader
